Observation 171126: Amanita rhacopus Y. Lamoureux

Notes:
Post-mature specimen with macro-traits having become somewhat ambiguous. I believe the third photo shows a patch of gray UV material on the stipe base.

We have recieved this material and accessioned it to Rod’s Herbarium. We have scheduled it for DNA sequencing.

The second image shows a dark ring low on the stem.

This will probably persist in dried material. I believe it is the internal limb of the volva. This is a good marker for the rhacopus-like group of taxa.
