Young specimen. What initially we thought could be a large truffle- was actually fruiting sub epogeusly beneath Western red cedar and Douglas fir. Most likely a young tuckahoe- all white and leathery before hardening and turning crusty brown… Herbarium specimen available in Olympia, WA.
Gleba thick, leathery. All white, with small rhizomatous filaments surrounding.
Interior-potato like, hard. Odor: pleasant, sweet, faintly fungaloid.
Temp: mid 50’s.
Elevation: Sea level.

Hey drew do you still have this mushroom around. Id like to look at it if your willing to ship it. Ive never actually seen one and i want to photograph it with macro photography especially with my microscope.
Does this have any pores or is it like chaga where its scherlerotia? Anyways im interested in looking at it.
Just got my account back up and running and will be updating my herbarium and inventory this next month. When I track down this collection of Wolfoporia I will send you a sample for sure ;).
