Observation 207733: Boletus variipes group

Growing in mixed woods.
Reticulation on stipe more obvious near base.
Cap 8.0 cm across.
Spores ~ 14.0-16.0 X 6.1-8.0 microns and smooth.
Taste was mild.
Xanthoconium(Boletus) separans is probably the right ID but the spores on these appear to be much wider…normally reported as being no more than 5.5 microns(?).

Based on chemical features: The ITS sequence derived from this material by Dr. Dentinger confirms the placement. It’s conspecific (by ITS) with the following sequenced MO posts: obs 242905 (TX), obs 282673 (NJ) and obs 325494 (CT)
