Recognized by sight: smooth rosy red and yellow cap up to 12 cm, sticky when wet, not lined, peeling halfway; off white gills becoming yellow; white stem; firm white unchanging context; mildly hot; in conifer duff (hemlock, fir, pine) but some birch also
