Observation 20958: Discina (Fr.) Fr.

When: 2009-05-11

Collection location: Forest near Elgin St., Pembroke, Ontario, Canada [Click for map]

Who: Paul Derbyshire (Twizzler)

No specimen available

On a chunk of rotting wood in a pine-dominated area. I nearly missed these; going down the short trail where I found these was a last-minute decision.

They’re darker brown on the inside surface than the thick edges or outside surface. They’re facing almost horizontal, growing where they are. Textbook ascos, and the Peziza genus contains a lot of brown cups, hence my guess as to genus.
