Notes:
Growing from a large hole on a living Maple tree in an urban area on a main street. Veil not persistent. The veil was barely torn on finding but disintegrated quickly after picking specimen. Large. One barely mature specimen having a cap diameter of 3 in. Stipe diameter about an inch and a half at largest point. Stipe length not including cap about 4.5 inches long.

Recognized by sight: Growing on wood substrate and size matching parameters of confirmed Gymnopilus Junonius with immediately visible green staining on remnants of partial veil. Spore print rusty orange.
