Observation 276362: Agaricus L.

Notes:
I had heard tale of this Agaricus sp. sold in open air markets in La Paz for years, never able to find them. Their harvest season is, according to those same tale tellers, limited to one to two weeks out of the year. This year, we happened to be at the right place at the right time. The women selling these, along with the infinitely more common (and introduced) dried Suillus luteus, were very cagey about relinquishing any habitat or collection location information. Pictures were taken with permission, but judging by their faces, I don’t think they were too happy about it. :/

Neither almondy nor phenolic odor or taste detected, nor any color changes in response to bruising (though all the bases were cut).

the possibility that this is something unique to Bolivia. That said, A. campestris is an option. I wonder what Rick Kerrigan has to say.
