Growing in willow thickets with Salix scouleriana & S. hookeriana with red alder (Alnus rubra) on the margin. Herb layer with Phalaris arundinacea and (only close-by) Iris pseudacorus.

23 fruiting bodies collected from this site, some sporocarps with denser gills. Cap of the largest one had 3 cm in diameter.
