You suggest Hygrocybe but then suggest it is “doubtful”. What else would it be? Not Gliophorus.

There is acutaconica var cuspidata (viscid when moist – with umbo in age). There is H. aurantiosplendens which can be ; scarlet to orange-red. (It too is viscid with a broad umbo ) Both of these are okay size – Up to 7cm. You do not say size but they look in the range maybe? Not sure cuspidata is even a good name any more – BUT, when the DNA gets worked out on these there will be shuffling among the group for sure.
