On display at the SDMS fungus fair.
Found by Bonni from SDMS, who said “I collected these specimens south of Bahia de los Angeles at an abandoned mine area called Las Flores in Baja California. It was around mid Feb. 2009. They were found (as is usual I’ve been told) under mesquite—I’ll include a shot of the general locality, too. Some had bits of volvas”

Battareoides seems to be an alternate name for the genus… Though IF and MycoBank seem to prefer Battarreoides, a search of this name on Google renders 1,830 results, where as Battarraeoides brings up 5,450… So I am not sure which is currently accepted.

you must have saved specimens, too, or Alan wouldn’t have been able to take his photos.
Apparently, they are also found in Hawaii on the Big Island. Must be all about the hot and dry.
