Notes:
On sandstone bedrock outcrop in semi-arid grassland habitat.

Thallus pale, shiny, tightly adnate, with marginal lobes that have blackened edges and are subdivided into small lobules. Thallus becoming areolate to somewhat lobulate in center. Thallus algal layer divided by medulla hyphae. Heavily afflicted with a red-brown parasite. Apothecia common, lecanorine, thalline margin concolorous with thallus, shiny, thick and raised. Disk red-brown, shiny. Hymenium hyaline, epihymenium thin, red-brown, with small crystals, both the color and crystals soluble in K. Hypothecium hyaline. Algal layer thick across base of apothecia, but jagged. Medulla at base of apothecia with POL+ crystals insoluble in K.
