Now Jason can tell us the county. (I think it’s barely in Lewis Co.)

I think that worked

pin coordinates

The pin coordinates do not correspond to the coordinates of the first picture which are:
Latitude: 46° 31’ 21.882” N
Longitude: 121° 27’ 15.558” W
When you have a minute, would you mind editing this Observation and pasting the above values into the Latitude and Longitude fields?

The reason why MO used 47.2142°N 121.3238°W is that MO grabs the Lat/Lon from your previously-created Observation, if the previous one was created recently. It’s very easy to overlook that MO has done that. (It’s a feature which I think no longer makes sense.) Here, MO grabbed the Lat/Lon from Observation 467867, which you had created 15 minutes earlier.

Yes please, this is at Goat Rocks right before you get to the PCT alternate that goes up to Old Snowy going southbound.

Ah, I see!

Easy to miss that that location refers only to the portion in Skamania County. Glad we cleared this up.

I have a little app that tells me the county for a lat/long — this is in King County, very close to but not in Kittitas County. It’s very close to Snowshoe Butte (2.2 mi ESE of it). Maybe we could define a location for it?

Thanks for identifying

The lat long are from info stored about the picture automatically on my phone when I take the photo and I just clicked the “update” button when it was available. I would think it’s more accurate than whatever location I selected from the pull-down menu that seemed close by. Also there was snow at goat rocks in July when this photo was taken, I doubt there’s snow there now at all.

1. I just modified the Location name to clarify that it’s only a portion of the Gifford Pinchot NF. Sorry for the confusion
2. Consider one of these Locations:

3. How much snow is there on the trails this September? (I’ve camped in Goat Rocks, but snow often makes it a difficult hike.)

There might be a typo in the lat/long position?

The pin falls way outside of Skamania County on the map. You might want to double check…
