read the flicker with the french group when the hemitrichia s was posted originally. Seems like they are the same mushroom but different stages, anamorph vs. tele?….. Im still wondering if you could id the original substrate… mxyo spores arent too hard to look at.
Im going to email Roz and ask her about this and let you know. Could you send me that rogerson key?

Stilbella byssiseda

My guess would be Stilbella byssiseda. It is supposed to look almost like polycephalomyces tomentosus but it grows on other and different species of myxos. I have never found Stilbella so I an uncertain but it is my best guess.

this is normally what i find to be polycephalomyces tomentosus. I have a couple of pictures on MO. My only concern is that it fruits on the Trichiales. And the mxyo you have here , though hard to say looks like an old reticularia, fuligo, enteridium…. with the dark brown deposit. But that would be my guess.
