Glossary Term: nom. nud.

Nomen nudum. A proposed taxonomic name that is invalid because the name designated is not described or illustrated sufficiently for recognition, that has no nomenclatural status, and that consequently can be used as though never previously proposed. A designation of a new taxon published without a description or diagnosis or reference to a description or diagnosis (ICN Art. 38 Ex. 1, Rec. 50B).
