1. This term is usually applied sparingly to describe hyphae or cystidia with branches, bringing about a somewhat tree-like appearance to the hyphae.
2. Thin walled narrow hyphae, branched or with spurs – located in the outer layers of the stipe. In some species dendrophysoid hyphae or cystidia have only been observed when stained with cotton blue.
