Glossary Term: Gelatinized Cells

1. (On the cap surface) The cells on the surface of the cap sometimes appear gelatinized, vague, and out of focus. When you are sure that they really aren’t out of focus, you may be looking at the microscopic evidence of a viscid/slimy or once-viscid cap.
