Notes: From lake Tipsoo there are many trails and short hikes one can take to soak in the alpine air, twisting pines, pacific silver fir, Larix occidentalis, old growth Douglas fir, and multiple other beautiful striking conifers amidst the back drop of Mount rainier. Fortunately, many of these hikes between 410 summit and Bumping lake have some of the tallest and long lived old growth trees I have seen(rivaled only by the coastal redwoods and Quinalt, WA old growth forest.

Agarikon(Laricifomes officinalis) are very rare here(as with everywhere) but many are visible hundreds of feet up these old growth beauties.

Also found in this region are- P. aurea, Boletus rex-veris, Boletus edulis, Tricholoma magnivelere, 4 species of Cantharellus, ascomycete’s(spring and fall), reishi, and many more.

Just have to work to get em ;)
