Notes: Public Land, no permit required, National Forest. To get to the area you park your vehicle just north of Rock Creek Bridge and hike south down the road till you get to another trail entrance on the south end of the bridge. It will lead to a abandon road and then past the utility property lines and onto the South trail of Forest Road 1002, which begins way up on Highway 76. As you hike down this trail you can start to vear off up the hillside to the NEE of you. Once at the top of the hill it is a easy walk directly East to the Effugie Mounds. You will encounter many conifers, hardwoods, patches of grass, flood ground, ticks… so many ticks.. also spiderwebs galore.
