Notes: Privately owned. Sunflower Farm was started as an intentional community in the early 1970’s. It was known as the Parmitter Farm, before it was an intentional community. Each resided rents or owns 5 acre parcels, and there is around 90 acres of ‘community’ land. Much of this land was developed pasture land. There are some spots with older stands of hardwood trees, Oaks, Hickory, Beach, Poplar, Ash, Elm in the older areas, primarily along old land borders, in steep ravines, and old fence lines. The old orchard and pasture lands have been left to go wild, but have been poorly manages as far as invasive species go.. Lots of Autum Olive, Tree of Heaven, and Honey suckle vines growing in the old pasture areas, as Well as young black walnut, some Ash, lots of Sassafras, Maple and many old apple orchard trees scattered about.
