“..a name change has been proposed in a 2019 publication by Parra et al. Here is the relevant text:
While this article was being written, M.M. Gómez informed one of the authors (L. A. P.) that the name A. argenteus Braendle ex Peck, mentioned in this paper, is a later homonym of A. argenteus With. (1796), and, therefore, it is an illegitimate name. For this reason, both A. argenteus Braedle and A. argenteus subsp. annetteae Kerrigan need a new name:
Agaricus braendlei L.A. Parra & M.M. Gómez, nom. nov.
≡ Agaricus argenteus Braendle ex Peck in Peck, Bull. Torrey Bot. Club 26: 68. 1899, nom. illeg., a later homonym of Agaricus argenteus With., Bot. Arr. Brit. Pl. Ed. 2, 3(2): 354.1792."
