Unless you plan on publishing a formal rebuttal, I don’t think you are in the best position to counter Geoffrey Kibby’s paper. You may contact the author here if you have concerns: https://www.journals.elsevier.com/...

The type method was introduced in European botany/mycology only long time after Fr. and Quél. Neither of those had any “type” in their hands when they described their “Agaricus gemmatus” or “Amanita junquillea” in their hands. Don’t jump on every nomenclature innovation.

Amanita junquillea Quél. is a doubtfull name

“A. gemmata is best regarded as a synonym of A. muscaria and therefore we need to look again for a person whose description agrees with the fungus in question
and that is Quélet (1877).”
