Recent nomenclatural researchers claim that Quélet did not specify a rank for his names. Luckily Singer (maybe accidentally) made the same combinations that Quélet had made.

I’m sorry that I don’t know how to return the author citation to the correct one. When I tired to see earlier versions of this page, I got the “You are doing something unexpected” message.

The correct author citation at the level of section is

Amanita sect. Validae (Fr.) Quél.

Drehmel et al. CHANGED THE RANK of Amanita sect. Validae to Amanita subsect. Validae and placed the Validae WITHIN Amanita sect. Phalloideae. This change has not been accepted.

Apparently, there may be other changes to author citations above the level of species that will need to be reversed on MO. we should be on the look out for them.
