- This species doesn’t belong in either Sarcodontia or Spongipellis (Tomšovský 2016 – http://dx.doi.org/10.11646/phytotaxa.288.2.12, Justo et al. 2017 – http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.funbio.2017.05.010)
- This species is supposed to be synonymous with the type species of Irpiciporus, I. mollis (and not with the type of any other genus) (IF).
- Justo et al. accepts Irpiciporus in the Cerrenaceae while listing Spongipellis pachyodon as an “additional taxon” in the family…
The only reason I can think of is that MAYBE it could be lumped with Radulodon or Cerrena in a more thorough study, but why not use a name that’s right for now?
