Pileus
4-8 cm broad, broadly convex when mature, obtuse with an incurved margin. surface covered with appressed to slightly recurved, fibrillose tawny scales on an ocherous yellow to bright yellow ground, not gelatinous. Context yellow, pliant; odor and taste unremarkable, slowly olive in FeSO4.

Adnate to decurrent, broad, close, dull yellow becoming rusty. edges crenulate.

Stipe
3-6cm long, 7-12mm thick, equal or base clavate, curved, slowly rusty brown with handling, dingy yellow above. veil forming a fugacious submembranous to fibrillose ring.

7-9(-10) X 5-5.5, ellipsoid, inequilateral, verrucose, no germ pore, ferruginous in KOH, dextrinoid at once. Basidia 23-26 X 5-6, 4-spored. Pleurocystidia 22-27 X 5-7, ventricose; cheilocystidia 24-33 X 4-7, flask shaped, capitate. Gill trama subparallel5-11 broad. pileus trama loosely interwoven. Cuticle repent hyphae bearing brown bundles, 5-15. Caulocystidia 28-54 X 5-7, colorless, cylindric clavate, in tufts. Clamps rare.
