Both IF and mycobank still list the genus as a synonym for Entoloma, however, both sites also list at least one Claudopus species as being valid and current: http://www.mycobank.org/...

Thanks for mentioning this, Adolf. It will be interesting to delve into.

Entoloma Fr. ex P. Kumm., and Entoloma P. Kumm. need to be merged. I attempted to merge these records, and I guess the request is still awaiting admin approval.

Technically, these two taxa are identical, as ascription to Fries in this case is optional.

The two names probably exist as unique taxa @ MO because index fungorum and mycobank cited the authority differently, with IF not citing the ascription to Fries. If I understand correctly, the IF citation is soon to be updated, as it is their policy to include such ascription, where applicable.

Very interesting

On this page, Entoloma is listed both as a name and a deprecated synonyms.
I am still waiting for some explanation of what is meant by a synonym in MO and what the depreceted synonyms and preferred synonyms are. By the way, Claudopus is just listed bold as Synonym(s), being neither deprecated nor preferred. I am confused, but I am glad that other MO users understand this. See:
Deprecated Synonym(s):Rhodophyllus, Eccilia, Clitopiloidea, Leptoniella, Paraleptonia, Noleana, Entaloma, Arenicola, Fibropilus, Inopilus, Lanolea, Latzinaea, Omphaliopsis, Pouzaromyces, Entoloma

Thanks, Darvin and Irene, for bringing this to our attention. Changing author on names which are in use is one of the few things that requires admin privilege. Do not hesitate to send Nathan or I email in cases like this.
