Mycelium partly superficial, partly immersed, hyphae thick. Stroma none. Setae absent. Hyphopodia absent. Conidiophores semi-macronematous, often upturned hyphae the same thickness as the rest of the mycelium, branched, pale or dark coloured. Conidiogenous cells monoblastic and polyblastic, integrated, terminal. Conidia dry, catenate, often in branched chains, spherical, oval, limoniform, ellipsoidal or 0blong, pale or dark coloured, smooth, 0-septate.
Type species: Alysidium fulvum Kunze ex Steudel = Alysidium dubium (Pers. ex Fr.) M. B. Ellis, comb. nov. basionym Trichoderma dubium Pers., Observationes mycol., 1: 99, 1796; Fries, Syst. mycol., 3: 216, 1832.
