Total fruiting body graceful, thin-fleshed, and with a frail stem. They have bell-shaped caps, hemispherical to convex, with mostly dark brown, gray or brown colors. In some weather conditions the cap fades and may or may not retain the appendiculate margin. Stem may be hygrophanous or not, pileus dry and most are slightly sticky when young. Spores smooth or very finely ornamented. The hymenium is with Sulphidia, but never with Metuloids.
