Name: Agaricus thiersii
Author: Kerrigan & Vellinga
Citation: Agaricus thiersii Kerrigan & Vellinga, Memoirs of the New York Botanical Garden 114: 340 (2016)
this is another unpublished name, without a good description, other than a brief reference in the unpublished CA Mushrooms to its name as a “proposal” for an Agaricus similar to subrutilescens but “stockier, w/coarser cap scales and less flocculent lower stipe.” Who proposed it wasn’t mentioned, nor if DNA was run. Mushrooms can look different, even within a species.
We should probably kill this name here on MO. I mean, really.
If it is a Kerrigan name, then please, let’s wait ’til it and the rest get published. And I have to add, IF they get published. Who knows how this drama will pay out?
What would Else do???
