“Boletus pomaceus Pers. (1800), the basionym of Phellinus pomaceus, is a later synonym of Boletus tuberculosus Baumg. (1790), the basionym of Phellinus tuberculosus (Baumg.) Niemelä. Phellinus tuberculosus is supposed to have a priority over P. pomaceus. However, Boletus tuberculosus Baumg. is a later homonym of Boletus tuberculosus Bull. (1783) and thus illegimate (Article 53.1). Therefore P. pomaceus is the current name of this species.”
