Brief Description:

A burn Pholiota, pileus brown (light to strong brown; lacking reds); stipe whitish, turning light brown (tawny) when old or handled (“brunnescent”); often caespitose; large caulocystidia (40–120 × 10–40 µm). Key to Pyrophilous Species of Pholiota in North America, in Matheny (2018).1
