Preferred Synonyms:Fungi Bartl.
This name is intended to apply to the extremely heterogeneous set of mostly nonlichenized fungi which either obligately grow on, or are at least frequently collected growing on lichens. This set contains both ascomycetes and basidiomycetes, as well, of course, as many unplaced anamorphic fungi.
you got the right one.
See Danny’s comment. I guess let’s keep taxonomy “clean” and use species lists for artificial groups.
Okay, will start adding to it… when I remember!
But that species list won’t work. Many… no, most… lichenicolous fungi are ascomycetes not basidiomycets. And none are lichenized basidiomycetes to my knowledge.
So let’s create a “Lichenicolous Fungi” species list and start adding stuff to it?
into the following species list:
than have a non-Latin name grouping them together. the only exceptions to Latin in naming in current use are Duplicate, Mixed collection, Non-fungal and the ever-controversial Imageless. none of these refer to a particular group of fungi, nor a mode or method of fungal ecology. that has, so far, been the job of species lists. opening up one group of fungi to this kind of naming opens up all of them.
