Notes on Taxonomy: [Edit]

Species Fungorum, MycoBank and the MatchMaker database all indicate that this name is deprecated in favor of Plicaturopsis crispa. However, Tom Volk says by molecular sequencing and morphology this species is now known to fit well within the concept of Plicatura (e.g. close to Plicatura nivea) and thus Plicaturopsis is gone. No matter what you call it, it’s a very cool fungus.
