“Cap 6-15 cm, soon depressed with inrolled margin, dry, glabrous to minutely felty, light to dark yellow-brown, tawny-olive to drab, or brownish-gray, not peeling. Gills thick, brittle and waxy with many lamellulae, subdistant to distant; often beaded with droplets of moisture, yellowish-white. Stem stout, firm, dry, light gray to yellow-stained. Flesh white to yellowish, unchanging when cut. Odor slight, rubber-like. Taste mild to slightly metallic. Spores white (A), 7-10 × 5.7-7.5 microns, warts up to 0.3 micron, with almost complete reticulum. Pleurocystidia absent, but hyphal ends often weakly SV+ and with odd, bud-like protrusions at their tips. Conifers; Maine.”
