Sporocarps short-stalked or sessile, pearl-grey. Peridium double, the outer layer calcareous or occasionally limeless, adhering closely to the membranous inner layer. Dehiscence irregular, leaving a ragged cup which shows white on the inside. Columella prominent, pale, subglobose, smooth or rugose. Stalk stout, reddish-brown, covered with white lime. Spores densely verruculose, 10-12 µm diam.
