A facultative anaerobe bacterium, with the ability to grow with, or without, oxygen.

Found naturally in plants, animals, and soil, it can cause several types of medical conditions in humans, including sepsis and urinary tract infections.

This bacteria can produce the bright red pigment prodigiosin which will be seen as red streaks on rotting organic material.
