General Description:

Pale pinkish buff cap, yellow cyanescent flesh, yellow cyanecent hymenophore. Whitish stipe that stains brownish orange. Marginal appediculate veil remnants from cap margin.

Diagnostic Description:

Pileus dry, appressed felty to appressed squamose to appressed squamulose or with suberect squamules, pale pinkish buff. Pileus flesh yellow, quickly cyanescent. Tubes and pores yellow, quickly cyanescent, with pores becoming deep brownish red with age. Stipe whitish, staining brownish orange on surface; interior whitish and also staining brownish orange.


Singapore and now apparently Australia (Queensland) (NSW?)


soil or base of Myrtaceae in Atherton Tableland and Fraser Island in Queensland for certain. With Fagaceae in Singapore.

Look Alikes:

It is quite likely that reports of Boletellus ananas in Australia are this fungus. However, B. ananiceps may be an earlier name and we await further clarification.
