General Description:

Cap Width 3/4-1 3/4 in 2-4.5 cm convex to broadly convex often depressed in the center,pinkish violet to vinaceous, darker in the center surface granular to finely scaly toward the margin

Flesh brittle white odor not distinctive, taste slowly acrid

Gills adnate close to moderately well spaced

Stalk length 3/4-1 3/4 in 2-4.5 cm equal whitish or flushed with cap color

Spores 6-7.7 × 4.5-6.3 um subglobose surface with warts and lines forming a partial reticulum, hyaline.


Distribution:

Eastern north America West Virginia but probably widely distributed in the east


Habitat:

In loosely scattered groups on the ground in the broad leaved and mixed wood mycorrhizal summer and fall rare to occasional.
