General Description:

Cap is generally 2 cm to 4 cm across densely clumped together, creating small shelf’s with rounded downward margins forming round to cylindrical clusters , Caps are brown to gray in age and older specimens may have moss on them. The outer margin lighter in color flesh smooth rigid or leathery. Has a fragrant fruity odor when cut.
Pore Surface brown 2 to 4 cm.


Distribution:

Range from New York to Alabama


Habitat:
Saprophyte Found through late summer early winter on deciduous hard wood trees More common on maple. but found on Oak and hickory as well
