On small logs and sticks, usually hardwood, especially birch and poplar.


Smells fruity, like “pink cherries”, and can be smelled up to 10 feet away by someone with a good nose.

Heartwood that this mushroom can be found is discolored yellow and smells like cinnamon when freshly snapped.
