Recognized by sight: The correct way to view this photo is to turn your hear 90 degrees left. The Alloclavaria purpurea should be rising nearly straight up from the moss: it is always exceedingly geotropic. That means that these 2 Suillus tomentosus, about a week different in age, were growing nearly perpendicular to a steep sand bank cut in the road.
