HABITAT base of north face of large noncalcareous outcrop; SUBSTRATE rock; ASPECT shaded; NOTES thallus orange subfruticose, lobes short and thick, cortex very thick and hard composed of tangled long branched hyphae, apothecia stipitate, disk darker orange than margin, rim with thicker golden-brown margin than epihymenium POL+y, hyphae below hymenium and in amphithecium tangled long branched hyphae POL-, hymenium hyaline and short POL-, paraphyses with 1-3 cells swollen to 3 µm at tips scarcely branched; SPORES the usual, ~15 × 7 µm with ~3 µm septum swelling a bit around the middle in K.
