A. sylvaticus has not ever been confirmed in North America, although there are some close undescribed relatives of that European species here.

Another slender species is being described in Mycologia from Mexico at the end of 2008. It could be mistaken for A. sylvaticus and it resembles this photo, although not definitely enough to allow a confident ID. Both species have rufescent flesh, which cannot be determined from this photo.
