Observation 10520: Ramaria rubrievanescens Marr & D.E. Stuntz

When: 2008-08-18

Collection location: Windsor Trail, Pecos Wilderness, Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA [Click for map]

Who: Douglas Smith (douglas)

No specimen available

Found under spruce and aspen. Purple tips.

Looking at the photos carefully, and at the Ramaria of the Pacific book, I see that the tips were pink-purple while in the ground, but the tips are only slightly purple on some when photo taken hours later at home. It seems there is R. rubrievanescens which has tips that fade quickly when picked, and in age. So, this looks hopeful.
