When: 2008-09-15

Collection location: Forest near Elgin St., Pembroke, Ontario, Canada [Click for map]

Who: Paul Derbyshire (Twizzler)

No specimen available

Notes:
I wasn’t sure what this was when I first saw it (first photo). I took a photo, then attempted to upend it and it broke in half. Inside was just solid white stuff, so it seems it’s a puffball of some sort. Location wasn’t far from where I’ve found a Scleroderma previously (obs. 10990), in sandy ground at the edge of a path.

Gleba slightly pink

In the whole specimen, there seems to be some pink in the gleba near where the peridium was broken.I don’t know any Lycoperdons that have a pink tinge in the gleba, so it could be something completely different.
