Imagine my surprise when, after photographing this specimen in situ, I uprooted it and out came a huge, angled bulbous subterranean part of the stem.
Found in moist mixed woods near the fallen branch with the fungi of obs. 11219 and 11220. Nearby were several more small agarics of various species (obs. 11221, 11226, 11227, and 11228).
