which indicates that A. bernardi and A. pearsonii are in section chitonioide? Also, Rick Kerrigan’s comment about possible edibility of A. pearsonii on observation 23838?

I think I will do a bit of research first.

The one in the photo is in the dryer and destined for the USDA herbarium. The group there had a question about the designated name. I have smelled phenol in Agarics and this one does not seem to have it.

well, I guess that you will just have to be the one to provide that information! ;)

if you can smell phenol, and this one is not phenolic, it might be worth a try.

I have not seen any info on edibility

It certainly looks appealing when cleaned up, no yellow staining, perfectly okay aroma, solid throughout. The thought has occurred to me.

nice find!

so, have you tried this yet? Agaricus sp. are the best!
