All my recent collections from Trout Lake, WA were done with Jim Ginns (and Adolf). Jim has a good collection of this particular fungus. I took a small piece of it home and yes, it had a strong amyloid reaction with Melzer. Oluna
The latest issue of Coolia (the journal of the Dutch Mycological Society; Coolia 55 (4) 2012) has an article on this species, which was found for the first time in the Netherlands (and Europe as a whole). One of the characteristics of Antrodia carbonica is the strong amyloid reaction in Melzer’s reagent – did you check that on your material? Because of that strong reaction, the species has been placed in the genus Amyloporia.
