Observation 11298: Crepidotus mollis (Schaeff.) Staude

When: 2008-09-18

Collection location: Forest near Elgin St., Pembroke, Ontario, Canada [Click for map]

Who: Paul Derbyshire (Twizzler)

No specimen available

Looks like a crep or something similar. It was growing from one end of a fallen branch. The branch was half as wide as my arm; the mushroom is smaller than my hand, but not tiny.

The photo of the underside shows the fungus still attached to the branch. The branch was easily movable, so I was able to turn the whole thing over, take the underside photo, and then put it back approximately as I found it, so the poor little fella can still grow and drop his spores. :)

Found fairly close to a branch bearing several of a different crep (obs. 11299).
