Observation 11451: Suillus Gray

When: 2008-09-21

Collection location: Forest near Elgin St., Pembroke, Ontario, Canada [Click for map]

Who: Paul Derbyshire (Twizzler)

No specimen available

Definitely a bolete and possibly a Suillus. Yellow somewhat angular pores. Not in as-new condition, though, so possible identifying features such as a ring on the stipe are not verifiably present or never-there.

Flesh white with some pink tinging; cap brown.

This was under birch in the sandy-soil area not far from where I’ve seen Sclerodermas rupturing and exposing their spore masses.
