Observation 11461: Russula Pers.

When: 2008-09-21

Collection location: Forest near Elgin St., Pembroke, Ontario, Canada [Click for map]

Who: Paul Derbyshire (Twizzler)

No specimen available

This is a big white funnel-shaped mushroom, in terrible condition. It had been covered in mud, which I scraped off as delicately as I could with a stick.

Very close by was a cluster of those tiny little mushrooms that grow in dense clumps on duff (obs. 11462).

The second photo shows the area. Unfortunately it’s not in focus for some reason, but it’s still possible to see how close the mushrooms are to one another — and how much bigger this one is from the others.
